Men's Tennis wraps up play at ITA All-American Championships
Ben Davis loses tough straight-sets match in final round of singles qualifying
October 3, 2012 · @MTAthleticsTULSA, Okla. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Ben Davis lost his final round singles qualifying match to Shane Vinsant of Texas A&M 5-7, 6-7 (2-7). Davis battled back from 2-5 down in the opening set to get it to 5-5 before Vinsant won the final two games. He bounced back in the second set, taking a 4-2 lead. Davis led 5-3 when Vinsant won three straight games to take a 6-5 lead. The junior then tied the set 6-6 to force a tiebreaker, one Vinsant won 7-3 to advance to the main singles draw. In doubles action, Davis and Christoph Lang dropped an 8-3 match to Jordan Angus and Malte Stropp of Mississippi State.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Friday, Oct. 19 for the opening day of the ITA Regional in Memphis.
