Three-match road trip for Volleyball starts Friday night at ULM

Blue Raiders look to improve in conference standings against Warhawks and North Texas

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team starts a three-match road trip at ULM Friday night at 7 p.m. The Blue Raiders will take on North Texas Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Denton, Texas before closing the road swing at Austin Peay on Oct. 10.

Middle Tennessee enters the weekend 1-3 in the Sun Belt a 3-0 (18-25, 17-25, 19-25) loss to no. 20 WKU Tuesday night at Alumni Memorial Gym. Outside hitters Brandi Waller and Chelsea Ross led the Blue Raiders with nine kills each. Ross also had three aces.

The Blue Raiders have had a lot of success against their two opponents this weekend from the Sun Belt west division. Middle Tennessee is 6-0 all-time against ULM, having never dropped a set to the Warhawks. ULM enters Friday's match with a record of 4-9 and 0-4 in the Sun Belt after dropping matches to UALR and Arkansas State. Libero Marcela Araya leads the conference in digs, averaging 4.98 per set.

Middle Tennessee is 10-4 all-time against Sunday's opponent, the North Texas Mean Green. The Blue Raiders have won their last eight matches against North Texas, including a 3-0 sweep of the Mean Green in the Sun Belt Tournament last season. The Mean Green was picked to win the Sun Belt west division in the preseason and are 17-6 entering the weekend. Middle blocker Courtney Windham, this week's Sun Belt defensive player of the week, leads the Sun Belt with 1.46 blocks per set. Middle Tennessee's Tyler Richardson is second in blocks at 1.22 blocks per set.
