Erika Austin is in her first year at Middle Tennessee as the assistant athletic director for compliance. Austin was most recently a Training Product Supervisor for Briljent.

Austin will be responsible for ensuring compliance of the athletics operation most directly regulated by NCAA, SBC, and institutional rules. Austin’s duties will include assisting with day-to-day compliance functions, new employee orientation, coordinating the NCAA certification exam for athletics department personnel, and overseeing the initital eligibility process for incoming student-athletes.

In addition, Austin serves as game operations administrator for women’s basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Prior to joining Briljent, Austin served as assistant director of corporate alliances at the NCAA, a position she assumed from April 2003 to January 2010. In this role, Austin oversaw the daily management of the NCAA licensing programs, the NCAA championship equipment supplier program and the NCAA championship event-merchandising program. Austin was also responsible for assisting in the development of strategic business alliances with the NCAA’s Corporate Champion/Corporate Partner Program and areas of television, radio, Internet, and publishing.

Prior to joining the NCAA, Austin worked at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana as a consumer marketing associate, managing numerous vendor relationships and supporting strategic product launches for two years. Prior to joining Eli Lilly and Company, Austin worked at Deloitte & Touche in Atlanta, Georgia and Indianapolis as an Assistant Director of Corporate Communications for three years.

Austin’s intercollegiate athletics career started as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of South Carolina and Georgia Tech, respectively, for a combined six years.

Austin received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis. She is currently working on her Masters of Sports Administration degree at Ohio University.
