20 Personal records broke on Day 2 of Rod McCravy Memorial

Akwu, Amenebede and men's 4x400 meter relay earn runner-up finishes

LEXINGTON, Ky. - On the final day of the Rod McCravy Memorial at the Nutter Fieldhouse, Middle Tennessee had 20 individuals set personal records. In addition, MT grabbed three runner-up positions on Saturday.

Rosina Amenebede qualified eighth in the women's 60 meter hurdle preliminary round, but put together an impressive performance in the finals, hitting a personal record mark of 8.37 seconds to grab second.

Noah Akwu ran the men's 400 for the first time in his Blue Raider career, cruising around the track in 47.50 seconds to finish just .25 seconds behind Western Kentucky's Elvyonn Bailey, who won the event.

The final runner-up for MT was the men's 4x400 meter team made up of Geoffrey Akena, Andre Hamilton, Steven Palmer and Akwu. The men finished less than one second behind the winner with a time of 3:11.61.

In the men's 200 meter finals, Demetrius Shelton ran a personal best, 22.09 for seventh place.

France Makabu and India Hammond competed in the women's triple jump invitational event, and Makabu (12.65 meters) was third. Hammonds (11.81 meters) was eighth. On the men's side, Cordairo Golden hit a season-long mark of 50 feet, .75 inches and finished fifth.

Middle Tennessee will host the final two events of their indoor season inside the Murphy Center on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9 before heading to the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, scheduled for Feb. 23-24.
