Ebony Rowe selected to Sun Belt Leadership Team

DESTIN, Fla. - Another honor was bestowed on Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe on Tuesday. The junior was named a member of the Sun Belt Conference's Leadership team as announced at the league's annual spring meetings.

The Lexington, Ky., product joined eight other Sun Belt athletes as a member of the team. The award is given to a letter-winning student-athlete, based on leadership, sportsmanship, community service, citizenship, academic excellence and any other qualities valued by the institution.

Rowe averaged 19.7 points and 11.2 rebounds in 33 games. She was ranked in four categories in the NCAA's top 25 and completed 21 doubles during the season. Rowe grabbed a single-season school record of 189 offensive rebounds, while earning second all-time in defensive rebounds (179) and total rebounds (368) during a season. Her 650 points scored was the seventh-best single-season performance during Middle Tennessee's 38-year history.

In April, Rowe was named by the Associated Press and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as an Honorable Mention All-American. Later that month, she earned first team Arthur Ashe Sport Scholar honors with a 3.58 GPA as a Physics Major. Rowe has also participated in numerous community service project, which includes work with the United Way of Rutherford County.

The forward earned spots on the Sun Belt All-Conference team, Sun Belt All-Tournament team and the WBCA All-Region 4 team. Rowe was named a top 30 finalist for the Naismith Award, which is given to the nation's best women's basketball player.

Rowe grabbed the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award on three occasions, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week honor a state-best six times and earned the Nashville Sport Council's Ed Temple Female Amateur Athlete of the Year for 2012.

Rowe reached the school's top-10 career ledger in 12 different categories. In just three seasons at Middle Tennessee, she has totaled 1,719 points which ranks ninth in school history. She is the leading rebounder in program history, corralling 1,014 in three seasons to become the first women's basketball player at MT to compile 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. In addition to total rebounds, she is the program leader with 508 offensive boards and third all-time with 506 defensive rebounds. Rowe is eighth at Middle Tennessee in minutes played (3,550), field goals made (678) and blocks. She holds the school record with 53 career double-doubles and has reached double figures in 92 of 97 career games played.
