Burton forward James Ellison is recovering in hospital following a knife attack, the npower League Two club have confirmed.
The 18-year-old suffered a stab wound to the back during a night out in the Liverpool area on Saturday.
The incident is being investigated by police.
"James has been involved in an incident whilst he was out with a group of friends," Albion boss Paul Peschisolido told the club's official website.
"I have spoken with him since and I am relieved to say that he will be leaving hospital shortly.
"I would like to wish James a speedy recovery on behalf of everyone at the football club."
Ellison joined Burton in the summer following his release by Liverpool.
