Maxwells' moving day
KEVIN MAXWELL, son of the disgraced media tycoon Robert Maxwell, and his family moved out of their pounds 1.5m London home yesterday, writes Rachel Borrill.
Cantay Removers and Shippers from Fleet, Hampshire, arrived at 8.30am to pack the contents of the six-bedroom house in Jubilee Place, Chelsea (left) Mr Maxwell's wife Pandora supervised the move.
Neil Drumfold, one of the removal men, said they had been instructed to pack the whole contents and take them to their depot in Basingstoke. Mr Maxwell, 33, also owns a converted barn in Ipsden, Oxfordshire, but Mrs Maxwell, 31, refused to confirm if they were going there.
In the afternoon a glazier arrived to remove the stained- glass windows from the front door (right) watched by the Maxwells' son Edward. He replaced them with clear glass. Exterior lights were also removed. Mr Maxwell reduced the price of the house from pounds 1.6m last month. Mrs Maxwell refused to say if it had been sold. On 18 June Kevin Maxwell was charged on two counts of conspiracy and six of theft involving amounts totalling pounds 119m.
