Affidavit waits on weather

Sheikh Mohammed has a major role to play in the St Leger as six of the 15 horses declared at yesterday's five-day stage carry his colours. However, he could be represented by as few as two runners.

Anthony Stroud, the sheikh's racing manager, said that of the six the Michael Stoute-trained In Camera is the only definite runner at Doncaster, but is likely to be joined by Kalabo from Henry Cecil's yard and, if the weather turns nasty, by the Andre Fabre-trained Affidavit.

"Swain is almost certain not to run and will go for the Arc and Larrocha will go for the Prix Vermeille," Stroud said. "But we haven't made up our minds over Jural. She has been off the course for a long time and has never run over more than a mile and a quarter, so there are stamina doubts. She could also run in the Vermeille."

Despite that, the odds against Jural have been cut in most lists. Ladbrokes, who now bet "non runner no bet", have cut the Mark Johnston-trained filly to 12-1 from 16-1, as have Coral. William Hill have her on 10-1.

Presenting heads the market in all lists, although the possibility of unsuitably easy ground has caused him to drift to 7-4 with Ladbrokes.
