But now Abi Titmuss, the former nurse turned pin-up, is to tread the boards in a West End play. Titmuss, 29, is to play a prostitute called Angie in Arthur Miller's Two-Way Mirror at Covent Garden's Courtyard Theatre from 2 March. The drama comprises two single-act plays, Elegy for a Lady and Some Kind of Love, exploring themes familiar to Titmuss's admirers - love, sex, obsession and desire.

Titmuss said: "It's been a lifelong ambition of mine to star in a play in the West End so this is a dream come true."

The play's director, Mike Miller, said of the woman once voted Britain's most pointless celebrity: "Given the events of her extraordinary life, and as a modern-day icon, Abi was born to play the part of Angie."
