Dark-skinned model Jourdan Dunn, who stars in the current Touche Eclat campaign, couldn't have used what is possibly the world's best-known concealer when she signed up for the job - Yves Saint Laurent is launching shades suitable for black and Asian women only this summer.

When asked by the UK's Daily Mail why it took so long for the brand to come up with colors for exotic skin, YSL's European makeup artist Fred Letailleur replied: "People have been asking for darker shades...but until recently, the technology wasn't up to scratch."

Created in 1992, Touche Eclat quickly became the number one prestige illuminator for American and European women and is now tapping a new market, but Yves Saint Laurent is not the only Western beauty brand that is finally ready to cater to more diverse ethnic communities: Garnier's Caffeine Anti-Dark Circles Tinted Eye Roll On is available in darker hues, for instance, as is Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage foundation. Multi-brand retailers such as The Beauty Pot offer a selection specifically designed for the needs of "ethnic" skin and hair.

Touche Eclat's new shades will be available from July.
