Jordan Henderson has signed a new five-year, £100,000-a-week contract with Liverpool.
The England international joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 for £19m.
Teenage midfielder Jordon Ibe is also close to agreeing a new deal with the club, but Raheem Sterling will not speak with club over a new deal until the summer. The England forward is currently in the midst of a contract impasse with the club, having rejected a £100,00-a-week deal.
With Steven Gerrard leaving at the end of the season for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy, current vice-captain Henderson is among the favourites for the captaincy.
