Former model and British socialite Annabelle Neilson has died aged 49.

People confirmed the news, though stated details regarding Neilson's death have not been released.

According to US Weekly, London Metropolitan Police said they received a phone call on 12 July to attend Neilson's home after a woman had reportedly been "found deceased at the location". The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The daughter of property adviser Max Neilson and interior designer Elizabeth Neilson, her modelling career found her at the centre of London's fashion world, forging close friendships with the likes of Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

She was also closely associated with the late designer Alexander McQueen and was regarded as a muse of his; according to W, he would craft her custom sheer dresses for her partying days, and catsuits for her time racing cars in the Himalayas.

“He was my brother, my boyfriend, my soulmate. Most of the time people called me Mrs McQueen. Quite often we were sharing a bed,” Neilson told The Daily Mail in 2015.

“The truth is I was happier with Lee than with anyone else. He asked me to marry him towards the end and I said no. I wish now that I had said yes."

In 2014, she joined the cast of Ladies of London, Bravo's attempt to launch a British rival to the Real Housewives franchise, departing the show after its second season.

She also penned the children's series The Me Me Mes, intended to help younger readers understand their own emotions.

Nielson married notable financier and aristocrat Nat Rothschild in 1994, with the couple divorcing three years later. She was also known to have dated Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill.
