Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona could be delayed after reports suggested Liverpool are holding out for an initial lump payment of £75m for the disgraced striker.

Having made it clear that they did not want to sell Suarez, the striker looks set to leave Anfield following his latest biting incident where he bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during the group stage clash between Uruguay and Italy.

The belief was that a £63m deal would go through this week, with either a player exchange or future payments set to raise the offer, and Barcelona were also hopeful of paying the initial sum of money in instalments, based on performances.

The move is so far advanced that one football shop in Barcelona, named Futbolmania, has already begun printing Barcelona shirts with Suarez on the back, along with the number 9 – currently worn by Alexis Sanchez.

With the Chilean international set to snub Liverpool as he’d prefer a move to either Arsenal or Juventus, the rest of the Suarez fee will have to be financial based, and the Reds are said to want that paid immediately rather than as part of a structured deal that spans over a long period of time.

With Chile eliminated by Brazil in the second round of the World Cup, Sanchez is set to travel back to Barcelona to discuss where he will move to , with the expectation that his departure is a certainty this summer. While he would favour a move back to Italy with Juventus having already played for Udinese, Arsenal are said to be leading the way for the 25-year-old.

Even though Suarez is serving a four-month ban from all forms of football – although he has appealed the unprecedented suspension – he is able to discuss and complete a transfer, though he would still be unable to train with his new team.

Barcelona are due to fly to England to train at St George’s Park as part of their pre-season plans, and it is likely that Suarez will be a Barcelona player by the time new manager Luis Enrique and his side touch down in the UK.
