Adele has premiered the music video for her new single “Send My Love (To Your New Lover) at the Billboard Music Awards.

The singer-songwriter behind bestselling album 25, shared the hypnotising clip during the US ceremony on Sunday night. Directed by Patrick Daughters, the man behind Muse’s “Stockholm Syndrome” and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps”, the cheery, colourful video sees Adele wearing a romantic vintage dress, dancing around as she celebrates moving on from the ex-boyfriend of her 2011 heartbreak album 21.

The 27-year-old had hinted at the new release during a recent gig in Stockholm, Sweden, where she told the crowd that she had just finished filming a “really cool” video. “You’ll not believe it but I’m dancing in it,” she laughed. “Can you believe it? Lost all of my inhibitions. It was actually really fun.”

Adele remains hugely popular stateside, with 25 spending ten consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 upon its release last November. The “Hello” singer is currently touring Europe before making her debut as a Glastonbury headliner in June.

She is reportedly set to sign a £90m record deal with Sony Music, which would be the biggest ever for a British musician and the biggest ever for a female artist worldwide. These reports, published in The Sun, are yet to be confirmed, but if true would beat the £80m paid by BMI for Robbie Williams in 2002 and Arista’s £70m deal with Whitney Houston in 2001.

Adele’s representatives are yet to comment on the speculation.
