Many Star Wars fans are struggling to avoid The Force Awakens spoilers this week, an issue of such severity it might be one for law enforcement.

“No, posting #StarWarsForceAwakens spoilers is not a crime. Yes, it should be,” Philadelphia’s PoliceDepartment tweeted. “We enforce the laws - we don't make them. Sorry.”

Their quip has been retweeted over 8,000 and was even picked up by a few politicians, leading the Philly Police to follow-up with a photo of officers apprehending a couple of Stormtroopers.

In the age of social media it can be pretty difficult to avoid spoilers entirely, though this Chrome extension might make life easier.

The Force Awakens had its European premiere in London last night, seeing, among many others, Carrie Fisher’s French bulldog walk the red carpet.
