Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils will be looking to continue their rich vein of form with a fourth consecutive win.

Angel Di Maria is expected to miss the game after picking up a hamstring injury against Hull at the weekend, but Wayne Rooney should be fit in time to play.

Former Manchester United striker Mark Hughes will lead his Stoke City side to Old Trafford, looking for Stoke’s first win since 1976. Stoke will be feeling confident after defeating Manchester City on their last trip to Manchester.

KICK-OFF: Tuesday, 7.45pm

PAST THREE MEETINGS…

Stoke 2 (Carrick o.g, Adam) Manchester United 1 (Van Persie), Premier League, February 2014

Stoke 0 Manchester United 2 (Young, Evra), Capital One Cup, December 2013

Manchester United 3 (Van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez) Stoke 2 (Crouch, Arnautovic), Premier League, October 2013

STATS…

Stoke’s Steve Sidwell scored on his last trip to Old Trafford – helping former club Fulham to a 2-2 draw.

Stoke ended their 30 year hoodoo in February against United when a Michael Carrick own goal and a strike from Charlie Adam helped the Potters to a 2-1 win at the Britannia Stadium.

The crowd at Old Trafford can expect goals – the last goalless fixture between these sides was in 1972.

Wayne Rooney has scored 10 goals in his previous 13 matches for club and country.

A win for United would move them within two points of bitter rivals City for at least 24 hours.

ODDS…

Manchester United to win: 1.44

Stoke to win: 8.5

Draw: 4.6

TV: Highlights on BBC One, Wednesday at 10:35pm
