Singer Lana Del Rey is the latest in a list of high-profile performers to cancel scheduled live shows in Israel, following the fighting that continues in the Gaza strip.

Del Rey was due to perform at the Trade Fairs and Convention Center in Tel Aviv on 20 August, but the show’s producers, 2b Vibes, decided to cancel until the situation in the region stabilised.

In a statement released by Carmi Whurtman, spokesman for 2b Vibes, he wrote: “The artist and his crew really wanted to come, but unfortunately we were the ones who had to postpone it because this is not the right time to advertise and push a concert and also because Israel Defense Forces’ regional Home Front Command allows gathering of up to a thousand people only,”

The news was confirmed on Friday by Max Jury, who was scheduled to open for the Video Games singer.

He said: “Unfortunately the show with @LanaDelRey in Tel Aviv on August 20th has been postponed. Will let y'all know the rescheduled date ASAP”

Del Rey’s promoter Arthur Fogel said that his company Live Nation would be “watching the situation.“

Following the announcement, the Jerusalem Post reported that a new date would be announced and that those that bought tickets would still be able to attend the re-scheduled gig with no extra cost.

As of yet there has been no announcement on when the re-scheduled gig would take place.

Del Rey is the latest musician to cancel a show in Israel as a direct result of the fighting that began on the 8 July.

This week Cee Lo Green followed The Backstreet Boys, Neil Young and America, when he called off a show that was scheduled to take place on 19 August.
