Edin Dzeko received one of the most unusual red cards you will see this season in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Greece on Sunday.

The Roma striker was attempting to waste time with his side 1-0 up in the 79th minute when he suddenly decided to pull down the shorts of Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Dzeko had angered Sokratis by lying on the floor and holding onto the ball for too long after a challenge, so the Borussia Dortmund defender attempted to wrestle it away from him.

In retaliation, Dzeko first grabbed hold of his opponent’s legs, then pulled Sokratis’ shorts down to his knees to reveal his underwear.

Sokratis subsequently fell over as Dzeko forced himself up onto his feet and small altercations broke out between both sets of players.

The match referee, Jonas Eriksson, eventually restored order and showed red cards to both Dzeko and Kyriakos Papdopoulos, another Greek defender.

Greece went on to salvage a point. Miralem Pjanic’s opening goal for Bosnia was cancelled out five minutes into stoppage time by Giorgos Tzavelas.

The draw left Bosnia third in Group H, three points behind Michael Skibbe’s Greece, who sit in second behind leaders Belgium.
