Manchester United vs FC Midtjylland team news: Joe Riley starts and Michael Carrick in defence
Riley made his debut against Shrewsbury Town
Manchester United's injury crisis means that Louis van Gaal will have to play an extremely inexperienced back four against FC Midtjylland.
With almost all of their back four missing, Van Gaal will start Joe Riley at left-back and play Michael Carrick, captain for the night in the centre.
Daley Blind takes up his usual spot, while Guillermo Varela continues at right-back.
Manchester United enter the second leg 2-1 down after a shock defeat in Copenhagen last week.
Marcos Rojo is on the bench having returned from injury but he is only fit enough to play 20 minutes, maximum.
He is just one of two players on the bench, along with Paddy McNair, who could consider himself a regular under Van Gaal.
TEAMS:
Manchester United: Romero, Varela, Carrick, Blind, Riley, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Lingard, Mata, Memphis, Martial.
Subs: J.Pereira, Rojo, Poole, McNair, Love, A.Pereira, Rashford.
FC Midtjylland: Andersen, Rømer, Hansen, Bodurov, Novak, Sparv, Poulsen, Olsson, Hassan, Sisto, Urena
