Zinedine Zidane has yet again been discussing the future of Gareth Bale as rumours persist that Real Madrid will make a move for the Tottenham forward this summer.

The Wales international enjoyed a scintillating season at White Hart Lane which saw him named the Players' Player of the Year and Football Writers' Player of the Year.

With Spurs missing out on qualification for the Champions League, unsurprisingly the 23-year-old has been linked with a move away and at the head of the queue are Real Madrid.

The president of the club Florentino Perez has said it is Bale's destiny to wear the white of Real Madrid while sporting director Zidane has spoken of his admiration for the former Southampton player.

Zidane has now been quoted as saying it could take in excess of the £80m Real paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo to prise Bale away from White Hart Lane.

"The talk about Gareth Bale is not a surprise," said the former France captain. "It is impossible to have the season he just had and not be linked with the biggest clubs in Europe.

"If any club is going to tempt Spurs, then it will take big money – maybe even record-breaking money."

Zidane went on to suggest Real are not the only club that could make a move for Bale.

"There are four or five clubs at the moment who have the finances not to be put off by a record-breaking fee like that."
