Suarez rescues Liverpool as Coloccini sees red

Luis Suarez made the headlines for the right reasons yesterday when his fine late equaliser rescued a point for Liverpool in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle at Anfield. Yohan Cabaye's fine control and finish gave Alan Pardew's side the lead just before half time, taking down Hatem Ben Arfa's cross before beating Brad Jones with style.

Suarez levelled halfway through the second half, taking Jose Enrique's long ball on his chest before rounding Tim Krul and slotting into an empty net. The Urug-uayan forward was later fouled by Fabricio Coloccini, an act which earned the Newcastle captain, above, a straight red card.

Elsewhere, QPR and Reading played out another 1-1 draw at Loftus Road. Kaspars Gorkss gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes, with Djibril Cissé prodding home an equaliser with 25 minutes to go. Both sides remain without a league win this season. MORE
