Controlled explosion on police station car
Police carried out a controlled explosion on a car parked outside Paddington Green police station, west London, last night. Police were unable to confirm whether the vehicle contained a bomb. Edgware Road, the A40(M) Westway flyover and Edgware Road tube station were closed during the incident.
The police station, which is used to question terrorist suspects, was also evacuated along with the Metropole Hotel and other buildings nearby.
A Yard spokesman said no warning was received but it was decided to take no chances.
