BOSTON RED SOX achieved a remarkable comeback against the Cleveland Indians on Monday night in the Division Play-offs as they won the decisive match in the series 12-8. They now face the New York Yankees for a place in the World Series.

After dropping the first two games of the series, the Red Sox battled back to 2-2 and then outslugged the Indians to win their first-round play-off and advance to the American League Championship series.

The Sox, only the fourth team to win a best-of-five series after trailing 2-0, now play their rivals, the Yankees, in the American League Championship. The first game in the series begins tonight. This season, the Red Sox have dominated the Yankees, beating them in eight of their 12 games.

Boston, who won 94 games to beat the West Division's Oakland A's to the wild-card this year, are attempting to win their first World Series for 81 years. The Sox last won the coveted prize in 1918 when the legendary Babe Ruth led them to a 4-2 triumph over the Chicago Cubs.
