Tough reforms
BUCHAREST (Reuter) - The Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Vacaroiu, presented to parliament a tough reform programme designed to cut inflation by more than half to 80 per cent this year, and halt the economic decline that has gripped the country since the collapse of Communist rule in 1989 by boosting privatisation, encouraging free enterprise and scrapping price subsidies.
