Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has deleted his social media accounts after posting a cryptic message online.

In a short tweet on Tuesday that broke nearly two weeks of silence, Salah wrote: “2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real.”

He then deleted his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account after his message.

Salah scored his 50th Premier League goal for Liverpool during their 4-3 victory against Crystal Palace, his 72nd league match for the club.

“[It’s] an exceptional achievement from a world-class player,” said Jurgen Klopp.

“Wow, what an outstanding number. I heard the names of the other players who got there a bit quicker, Alan Shearer, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, good strikers as well.

“Maybe he would have scored more and earlier if I hadn’t played him on the right wing so often. My fault.

“[He has] helped us a lot. It’s a typical win-win situation. He benefits from the style of play, and the boys benefit of course from his scoring desire. It’s cool.”

Salah has previously posted mysterious messages on social media relating to his rows with the Egyptian FA.

After the World Cup, Salah reignited a long dispute with the Egyptian football authorities and accused them of ignoring his complaints about using an unauthorised image of him.

Salah said he was “insulted” that nobody consulted him over an image of him appearing on the team’s plane which was provided by the official team sponsor WE. The winger had an existing deal with rival telecoms company Vodafone and it conflicted his commercial interests as he owns his image rights.

“It’s normal that a football federation seeks to solve the problems of its players so they can feel comfortable. But in fact, what I see is exactly the opposite,” Salah said on Twitter in August.

“It is not normal that my messages and my lawyer’s messages are ignored. I don’t know why all this (is happening). Do you not have time to respond to us?!”
