Stay safe

There is an increased risk of demonstrations across Egypt on and around 30 June, 3 July, and 14 August, the second anniversary of the 2013 coup d'état. The FCO does not advise against visiting popular tourist areas along the Nile or the resorts of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, but tourists should be vigilant.

Be a sport

The Chicago Athletic Association has re-opened as a vintage-style hotel. As well as offering views across Millennium Park to Lake Michigan, the hotel has retained elements of its former life: mosaic seahorse tiles from the pool and gym now feature in the lifts.

Viet visa

For a year from 1 July 2015, UK citizens will no longer need a visa when entering Vietnam for trips of 15 days or less. Evidence from other countries that have relaxed their visa rules suggests that the policy is likely to be extended indefinitely. It does not cover multiple visits, eg for those making a side-trip to Cambodia.
