NEW ZEALAND board officials have failed to lure Andrew Jones out of retirement for next month's tour of India as a replacement for Martin Crowe, who has declared himself unfit. Jones, 35, averaged 46 in Tests when he retired earlier this year.

ARJUNA RANATUNGA has retained the Sri Lankan captaincy for next month's three-Test tour of Zimbabwe. Asanka Gurusinha, one of only two Sri Lankans to have scored a century in both innings of a Test, has been recalled.
