New Guillermo del Toro animated series coming to Netflix
Another one to add to the list
If you're a Netflix subscriber, there's lots to be excited about this year.
If House of Cards' fourth season, Daredevil's second and two new films (War Machine and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel Sword of Destiny) weren't all enough, a new animated series from fantasy maestro Guillermo del Toro has just been thrown in the mixer.
Titled Trollhunters, it will tell the story of two young kids who unearth a world of trolls hidden under their town.
Director of Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim, del Toro's most recent film Crimson Peak was released in cinemas last year.
The announcement of the series comes after the news that the streaming service has expanded its film and television deal with DreamWorks Animation – meaning Netflix's slate will also include spin-offs to some of the studio's most successful films, namely Puss in Boots and The Croods.
Another planned project is a reimagining of beloved Eighties series Voltron following giant robots battling in a future world; whether or not Mexican filmmaker del Toro will be involved remains to be seen.
