Haiti plea
The Haitian military leader, Raoul Cedras, made a dramatic plea yesterday for a personal meeting with the ousted president Jean- Bertrand Aristide, telling reporters the two had to 'ensure the future of the country', Reuter reports from New York.
But a spokesman for Fr Aristide, Jean Casimir, said the president would only meet General Cedras after an agreement had been hammered out. Earlier General Cedras had told UN negotiators he was willing to resign if he could set conditions, diplomats said.
