After winning the Ryder Cup yesterday it didn't take long for the champagne to emerge.

And for Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell, it emerged even sooner than they were expecting. A video of McIlroy holding a bottle from which the cork unexpectedly pops out has appeared on the internet - one of just many celebratory images from Gleneagles.

Famous faces have also been tweeting their congratulations to the European Team after they ultimately beat the United States comfortably by a score of 16.5-11.5. The golfer who sealed victory for Europe was Jamie Donaldson, whose delightful wedge was so close to the pin the hole was conceded and with it the point that ensured Paul McGinley's team retained their title was won.

Here, we take a look at some of the best from social media following the Ryder Cup.
