Gold medals for Team GB are fuelling sales of the London 2012 themed videogames as once the snappily named London 2012: The Official Videogame tops the all formats games chart, with the Mario and Sonic take on the Olympics following in hot pursuit.

The majority of the rest of the chart maintains the status quo too with Koch Media’s Risen 2: Dark Waters the only new entry in the entire top 40, ranking at 14th place, and a cut-priced Assassin’s Creed: Revelations ensuring a return for Ubisoft’s title to the week’s top ten.

Top 40 Entertainment Software (All Prices), Week Ending 4 August 2012:

1 – LONDON 2012: THE OFFICIAL VIDEO GAME – SEGA
2 – LEGO BATMAN 2: DC SUPER HEROES – WARNER BROS.
3 – MARIO & SONIC LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES – SEGA
4 – BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY – WARNER BROS.
5 – THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM – BETHESDA
6 – ASSASSIN’S CREED: REVELATIONS – UBISOFT
7 – THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN – ACTIVISION
8 – BATTLEFIELD 3 – EA
9 – TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON: FUTURE SOLDIER – UBISOFT
