Never-before-scene outtakes of Robin Williams voicing the beloved Genie from Aladdin have emerged online, nearly 23 years after its theatrical release.

Cast members reunited on Good Morning America to reminisce over the Disney film, with directors Ron Clements and John Musker paying tribute to the actor who died in 2014.

According to Musker, Williams was the only choice for voicing the Genie: “We were totally walking down the plank. If he said no, we were going to be in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin.”

Clements added: “There was nobody else who could be the Genie, and fortunately he agreed to do it. He had so much energy and so much passion.

The broadcast featured short clips of Williams performing in a bleak looking audio booth with sketches of the genie acting out the lines besides. Watch below.

A digitally remastered version of the film, featuring the outtakes, will be available to purchase on Blue-Ray 13 October.
