Besiktas and Antalyaspor football fans throw teddies onto pitch for earthquake victims
Besiktas and Antalyaspor fans threw hundreds of teddies onto the pitch to donate to victims of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
The Super Lig game was halted on Sunday night, as supporters launched the toys from the stands to the turf, where they were then collected.
“Our fans organised a meaningful event called ‘this toy is my friend’ during the match in order to give morale to the children affected by the earthquake,” a statement from Besiktas read.
“The fans threw scarves, berets and plush toys to be given as a gift to the children in the earthquake region.”
