Oscars 2019: Kendrick Lamar and SZA won't perform Black Panther song 'All the Stars' at ceremony

Other four songs nominated for Best Song will be performed live at the ceremony in Los Angeles

Oscars 2019: Nominations for Best Picture

Kendrick Lamar and SZA will not perform their hit song “All the Stars“ at this year’s Oscars ceremony on 24 February, despite efforts by the Academy Awards to make it happen.

According to Variety, logistics and timing are being blamed for why the two artists will not make an appearance. The song, which was the lead track from Lamar’s Black Panther soundtrack, will not be performed by another act, the report says.

Lamar also skipped the Grammys ceremony earlier this month, where “All the Stars” was nominated for four awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

However, it was speculated that this was more to do with the Grammys’ poor relationship with the hip hop community, and the fact that – including the Black Panther soundtrack – Lamar has been snubbed four times for the Album of the Year award, three times in favour of white artists.

“All the Stars” is one of five tracks nominated for Best Song at this year’s Oscars ceremony, alongside “When a Cowboy Trades His Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Merry Poppins Returns, “I’ll Fight” from RBG, and “Shallow” from A Star is Born. All the other nominated songs will be performed live.

Queen, who are the subject of Best Picture nominee Bohemian Rhapsody starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, will also perform during the live ceremony with Adam Lambert on vocals.
