US student loses testicle after scuffle with police
Wednesday 21 May 2014
An American university student is reported to have lost his testicle following a groin strike by a police officer, after video footage of the incident was released.
University of New Mexico student Jeremy Martin got into the altercation in April when Albuquerque officer Pablo Padilla stopped him for running a stop sign on campus.
The cop allegedly struck the 24-year-old in the groin after he refused to sit on the curb for a sobriety test, according to Martin’s lawyer.
"This officer felt the necessity to knee him so directly and with so much blunt force that it shattered his testicle," Sam Bregman said.
Progress Now New Mexico, a political action group, has released a four-and-a-half minute clip of the incident. The footage does not actually depict the alleged kick taking place.
In the video, Padilla is apparently heard instructing Martin to “sit down right now or I’ll mace you”.
“Mace me. Mace me please. I would love for you to mace me. That would be fantastic sir,” Martin replies.

Martin continues to argue with Padilla when he is attacked. “Turn around,” Padilla says. “Don't kick me in the nuts,” Martin apparently replies. “Get on the ground,” Padilla orders.
Martin says that doctors had to remove one of his testicles following the injuries he sustained to his groin.
A spokesperson for Progress Now told the Huffington Post that an internal investigation was underway.
