Smart ForTwo and ForFour get Brabus makeover with more power and style
Under the bonnet, the usual 88bhp 900cc petrol engine has been boosted to 107bhp
German tuning company Brabus has warmed over the Smart ForTwo and ForFour, continuing the tradition it’s set over more than a decade of breathing extra fire into the diminutive city cars.
All three of the Smart models have been treated to the changes: the ForTwo coupé and cabrio, and the ForFour four-door. Visual changes include more aggressive noses plus fancier alloy wheels and exhaust systems, along with Brabus badges inside and out.
Under the bonnet, the usual 88bhp 900cc petrol engine has been boosted to 107bhp. It is mated to the same six-speed auto box as in the standard car.
This results in a 0-62mph time of 9.5sec and 103mph top speed, yet efficiency is only slightly affected; the Fortwo returns 62.8mpg and the ForFour 61.4mpg, while both have sub-105g/km CO2 emissions.
The enhancements aren’t cheap, however; the standard ForTwo costs from £11,125 but early suggestions are that the Brabus version will start from £17,000-£18,000 bracket. The ForFour will be even more. As ever, extra performance, style and cachet come at a price.
