Lucinda Green, in her new role as chairman of the three-day event selection committee, is relying on the familiar team of Jeanette Brakewell, William Fox-Pitt, Pippa Funnell and Leslie Law to contest the European Championships at Punchestown in Ireland in September. The same quartet won the European title in 2001 and were bronze medallists at last year's World Games. Brakewell, Funnell and Law were also team silver medallists at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Britain's three-day eventers have already qualified for next year's Olympic Games, whereas the dressage riders will be looking to do so at the European Championships at Hickstead in August.
