The transfer window in England opened on Saturday 2 January 2016.
When does the transfer window close?
The transfer window closes at 11pm in England on Monday 1 February 2016.
Why does it carry on into February?
The last day of January falls on a Sunday, meaning that clubs are granted an extra day to get their last-minute deals done. It’s that simple.
How do the different transfer window dates around Europe affect Premier League clubs?
Pay close attention Manchester United, Real Madrid and representatives of David De Gea: the deadline for Spanish clubs is 11pm GMT on January 31, a full day before England’s closes.
It may be very unlikely that the Manchester United goalkeeper will move during this coming window but other clubs should still take note so that they too do not learn the hard way.
Incidentally, the transfer windows in France and Italy close on the same day as in England, while Germany’s transfer window shuts at 5pm (GMT) on February 2.
