This year’s Oscars ceremony may have had no host, but Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph were on hand to ensure the opening segment was a memorable one.
Earlier this month, ABC president Kerry Burke confirmed the ceremony would have no host for the first time in 30 years.
Burke said that the controversy that led to the decision, sparked by Kevin Hart ’s departure as host after a number of old tweets resurfaced in which the comedian expressed homophobic views, has actually helped keep the Oscars relevant.
Instead, the ceremony had a series of segments presented by different stars, including Helen Mirren, Brian Tyree Henry and Melissa McCarthy with loads of rabbits in honour of Yorgos Lanthimos's period comedy, The Favourite .
