Queen and Adam Lambert opened this year’s Oscars ceremony with a performance of the band's signature tracks.

Celebrities watched on as Brian May and company performed songs, including “We Are the Champions”, with one enjoying the show in particular: Javier Bardem.

The No Country for Old Men actor rocked out alongside the likes of Glenn Close, Christian Bale and Amy Adams who could be seen singing along.

Alexandra Pollard, a music critic at The Independent, gave her verdict, too: “Given that Bohemian Rhapsody is a celebration (albeit an eminently flawed one) of the unique brilliance of Freddie Mercury, there’s something a little sad about watching a Queen performance without him," she said. "Adam Lambert stomped, glared and crooned as best as he could during tonight’s medley, but no one can fill Freddie’s shoes. Still, apparently Brian May and Roger Taylor once told the former American Idol contestant, 'If Freddy was here with us still, you guys would get a big kick out of each other.' So perhaps he would have approved.”

Winners at this year's ceremony included Olivia Colman for The Favourite, Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody, Regina King for If Beale Street Could Talk and Mahershala Ali whose film Green Book won Best Picture. Alfonso Cuarón took home Best Director for his Netflix drama Roma. You can find a full list of winners here.
